Microsoft Signs Partnership With SK Telecom Partner To Promote 5G And IoT

Two companies, SK telecom and Microsoft Corp. signed a wide-ranging partnership to promote Internet of Things into the business.

The agreement between the two firms includes working together in developing various technologies like IoT, 5G and artificial intelligence. The partnership also asks both the companies to work together on AI-powered service and product to support enterprises. 

Under the MoU signed on 7 May, the tech company and telecom operator agreed to combine their technological capabilities jointly to promote IoT business such as smart factory, AI Technologies and services, media and entertainment services.

As per the company announcement, the two companies will work together to offer new AI-powered products and services, including customer solutions such as a smart speaker and other offerings” by integrating the capabilities of SK telecom’s NUGU AI platform with Microsoft’s Crotona digital assistance to develop enterprises services and product.

Moreover, the deal also taps into the two companies working jointly to develop “a new level of customer experience in the field of media and entertainment.”

The South Korea telecom operator also promises to adopt Microsoft 365 in order to empower the employees, to develop a better working environment and promote a new way of working in a team. Eventually, the firm is looking to expand Microsoft’s intelligent and secure application solution to other ICT companies operating under the SK group.

Park Jung-ho, president and CEO of SK Telecom said, “ the company is pleased to join hands with Microsoft as a collaboration with global leading companies like Microsoft is essential to gain  leadership in the 5G market, where competition is already fierce,”

Jason Zander, executive vice president at Azure, Microsoft states, “through the strategic partnership with SK Telecom, we will play a key role in shaping the future and accelerating the digital transformation of the telecommunications industry with our world-class network and technology.”He continued that “This will be a deep and multifaceted partnership that strengthens the power of the cloud and AI to deliver innovative new services to customers.”
